AP Bags Five National Awards For Energy Conservation

Andhra Pradesh made a clean sweep of the energy conservation national awards-2015 constituted by the Union Ministry of Power.

This would be the first time that any state in the country has clinched all the national awards in the area of energy conservation, benefiting the state and stakeholders in a big way.

The state energy department officials received awards from the Union Energy Minister Piyush Goyal at a function in New Delhi today.

Starting off with a power-deficit of 22 million units per day in June, the state government has brought it down to zero within 100 days. Through this, the State Government has achieved the zero- power cuts milestone. Andhra Pradesh is one of the three states in the country chosen by the Centre for implementation.
