Apex Court orders CBI probe into the death of Rayagada lady teacher Itishree

The Supreme Court Tuesday asked the CBI to probe into the murder ofItishree Pradhan, a lady teacher in Tikiri UP School in Rayagadadistrict of Odisha . She succumbed to the burn injuries on November1, 2013 .

The apex court, disposing off a PIL filed by Sudipta Lenak , a law student seeking CBI probe into the gruesome murder case, asked the
CBI Director to form a special team within a week to nab the primeaccused in the murder of the lady teacher and submit a report within
two months.

Itishree Pradhan, a young school teacher at the Tikiri UP School in Odisha’s Rayagada district was set afire on the night of October 27
,2013 .

She was rushed first to the Rayagada district hospital and then to the Seven Hills hospital in Vishakhapatnam with severe burn injuries,
but succumbed to her injuries after six days struggle.

She was allegedly torched to death after unsuccessfully persuadinga uthorities to give her protection as she was facing sexual harassment
at the workplace.

The miscreant who poured kerosene on Itishree and set her ablaze is yet to be nabbed .The Crime Branch which has been probing the case
since November last year is still clueless on the matter.

However ,the state government had sacked sub-inspector of schools, Netrananda Dandasena, deputy inspector of schools, Dharanidhar Behera,
inspector in charge (IIC) of Tikiri police station Sujit Kumar Sai and assistant sub-inspector of police, Muralidhar Pradhan in connection
with the murder case.

The Crime Branch had filed chargesheet against the prime accused in the case Dandasena, who is now in the jail custody. .
