Ban On BBC Nirvaya Documentary A Private Dispute : UK

The United Kingdom Thursaday said that the ban on BBC documentary on the 16th December gang rape is a private dispute between the broadcaster and the Indian authorities.

British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond said in New Delhi that it does not concern British government in anyway.

Asked if the External Affairs Ministry has raised the issue with the UK government, Hammond said that he has not spoken about it and nobody has raised it with him so far.

The Indian government has banned the telecast of the documentary, India’s Daughter, which includes an interview conducted by British filmmaker Leslee Udwin and BBC.

Mukesh Singh, the driver of the bus in which the 23-year-old paramedical student was brutally gang-raped, has made derogatory statements against women in the documentary.
