Ban On Coal Mining Cost Mehalaya Rs.600 Cr. Revenue Current Fiscal

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma said that due to the ban on coal mining by the National Green Tribunal, the State has incurred a revenue loss of Rs 600 crore during the current financial year.

Replying to a question of Opposition party, he said that the National Green Tribunal ban on coal mining has affected the revenue of collection of the State to a great extent.

The Chief Minister further added that the contingency plan that are being worked out to mitigate this loss of revenue is by implementing 20 per cent non-plan budgetary cut, imposition of restriction on non-plan expenditure, revision of Value Added Tax for certain items from 13.5 to 14.5 per cent, tax on luxuries.
