BJD Fields Party Gen Secy Narendra Swain As Its RS Candidate

Ruling Biju Janata Dal Friday announced the name of Party General Secretary Narendra Swain as party candidate for the December 14 bypoll to Rajya Sabha
.
BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced the name of Mr Swain here.

Swain thanked Patnaik for chosing him for the Rajya Sabha seat and assured to raise issues relating to the development of the state in Parliament.

The notification for the bypoll for lone Rajya Sabha seat was made by Odisha Assembly Thursday .

The election for the seat was necessitated following the demise of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Kalpataru Das.
Considering the strength of the ruling BJD which has 117 members in the 147 member State Assembly, Swain is all set to make it to the Upper house.
