BJD Members Demand Roll Back Of Hike In LPG Price

Ruling BJD members Samir Ranjan Das and Rasheswari Panigrahi Wednesday expressed deep concern in the Odisha Assembly over the hike in price of LPG by Rs 62 per cyclinder and demanded to withdraw the hike.

Raising the issue during zero hour, Das said the hike would hit middle and lower class people the most.

He said, many people had given up their subsidy on the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas on the assurance that the price of cooking gas would not rise.

His party colleague Rasheswari Panigrahi said, after dal the price of LPG cylinder was hiked. She feared that it would affect the poor and described the Central government was a government of the Corporate sectors, a government of the TATAs and Birlas.

Mrs Panigrahi urged the Union government to withdraw the hike and let the people live.

Meanwhile, the Mahila Biju Janata Dal, the women wing of the ruling BJD led by its president Pramilla Mallick today sat on a dharna in front of the Governors house in protest against the hike in LPG price and demanded its withdrawal forthwith
