BJP begins 10-day nationwide mass contact drive today to mobilise support for CAA

New Delhi, January 05 :

BJP began a ten-day nationwide mass contact drive from today to mobilise support for the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. Several Union Ministers and BJP leaders are taking part in this door to door campaign in different parts of the country.

In Uttar Pradesh, the party has started the massive outreach campaign in all 75 districts. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath began the campaign with meeting Hazi Chaudhari Kaif-ul- Wara, a local resident in Gorakhpur. He also participated in a seminar of the intelligentsia in Gorakhpur University.

Many union ministers, ministers in state government and party functionaries including party’s working president J P Nadda are reaching the general public and especially the intellectual class to clear the misconception about the act.

AIR Correspondent reports that in Haryana, Chief Minister Manohar Lal launched the mass contact drive from Panchkula. He was accompanied by Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, Cabinet Minister Kanwar Pal and BJP General Secretary Suresh Bhatt.

On this occasion, the CM said that the CAA is not against any community but intends to give Citizenship to people of minority communities of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, who have migrated to India due to atrocities committed on them in those countries.

Mr Manohar Lal said, the Muslim community of India will continue to enjoy the same status and rights they already exercise.

BJP president and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will join the drive in Delhi, while party Working President J P Nadda will start the drive in Ghaziabad. BJP General Secretary Anil Jain said that the party leaders and workers will contact 3 crore families to rally support for the CAA.

As part of its programme, the BJP has launched a toll-free number 8866288662 for people to give missed calls to register their endorsement of the law.
