BJP observes “lajjya divas”, highlights failure of Naveen Patnaik govt
14 September, Bhubaneswar
The Opposition BJP in Odisha today held a protest dharna in front of the state Assembly to highlight the failure of Naveen Patnaik government and bringing shame to the state.
Named as “the BJD government a shame to the state” the dharna was attended by hundreds of party supporters, led by BJP state unit president Basant Panda and senior party leader Biswbhusan Harichandan.
Addressing a protest meeting at the dharna site, the BJP leaders alleged that the performance of the state government was confined to publicity only. The benefit of various government schemes was not reaching the needy people.
The BJD government, they said, miserably failed to achieve development during its 17 years tenure. The BJD ministers and MLAs were involved in chit fund scam and the party was resorting to agitation on various issues, only to cover up the misdeeds, corruption and inefficiency of the Ministers.
The incident of Dana Majhi of Kalahandi carrying the body of his wife on shoulder, the death of 19 children due to malnourishment at Nagada village in Jajpur district and the killing of innocent tribals by security personnel in Kandhamal has brought shame to the state and exposed the failure of the state government, the BJP leaders, who addressed the protest meeting, said.
Party presient Basant Panda announced that BJP would continue its fight till justice was done to the family members of home guard Sandeep Hati, who immolated before the residence of the Chief Minister, in protest against the injustice meted out to him by the police department.
