BJP Slams Asaduddin Owaisi For Objecting Conferring Bharat Ratna On Vajpayee

BJP Tuesday hit out at All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen MP Asaduddin Owaisi for objecting to conferring of Bharat Ratna on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Padma Vibhushan on veteran BJP leader LK Advani.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament, party leader Vinay Katiyar said honouring both nationalist leaders was a right decision as they served the country with dedication.

Meanwhile, Owaisi has said that he stands by his statement. He said there should be a criterion for conferring such awards. Earlier in Hyderabad, he had alleged that . Vajpayee and Advani were involved in the demolition of Bari Masjid and they should not have been honoured.

BSP Chief Mayawati also demanded that there should be a general criterion for such awards.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament, she alleged that both the UPA and the NDA governments had ignored Kanshi Ram for Bharat Ratna.
