BJP to field O Rajagopal from Nemom

Kerala BJP has decided to field its popular leader and former Union Minister O Rajagopal from Nemom Assembly constituency aiming to get an entry into the State Assembly.

Talking to newspersons here, the octogenarian leader said his candidature was the result of immense pressure from the leaders of RSS and BJP and ordinary workers. “This time our aim is not just an entry into the State Assembly.

Several lotus will bloom all over Kerala in this elections. This will be my last election contest,” the 88-year old BJP leader said. Meanwhile, Party sources said BJP State President Kummanam Rajasekharan will contest from Vattiyoorkavu Assembly seat. Former President PS Sreedharan Pillali will contest from Chengannur constituency while BJP General Secretary K Surendran will contest from Thiruvananthapuram Assembly seat.

Other leaders like MT Ramesh may contest from Kozhikode East or Aranmula and Ms Sobha Surendran from Palakkad. However, senior BJP leader P Asok Kumar, a familiar face of the party in the city and a two time City Corporation member, was not considered for any seat this time as the RSS and BJP ignored his name for unknown reasons.
Former BJP State President V Muraleedharan will seek mandate from Kazhakoottam while senior leader P K Krishnadas will contest from Kattakada. The party also decided to field C.K. Padmanabhan from Kunnamangalam, K.P. Sreesan from Beypore and P.M. Velayudhan from Mavelikkara. However, the official announcement of the party candidates would be made by the BJP national leadership in the coming days.
