BMC may file FIR against Kapil Sharma for illegal construction
14 September, Mumbai
Forces within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are now working to file an official first information report (FIR) against popular stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma, in the Andheri case, for illegal construction and illegal cutting of mangrove trees.
The BMC has already filed an FIR in the Oshiwara case against Kapil and 15 other flat owners living in the same building.
However, in the Andheri case, which came to the fore after Kapil’s first tweet to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the corporation official demanded a bribe, the BMC has not taken anyaction yet.
The BMC officials said they would take action on conclusion of the 10-day-long Ganesh festival tomorrow.
A proposal will be brought in the BMC House, and if approved by all the councilors, it will allow the BMC to officially file a criminal offence against the comedian-turned-actor.
The offences include illegal horizontal and vertical construction of his MHADA bungalow and illegal cutting of mangrove trees, for which the Forest officials recently conducted a survey. After the proposal is passed, trouble will deepen for the comedian, who is now surrounded by many controversies.
Kapil Sharma is alleged to have carried out illegal construction at both his Oshiwara flat and the Andheri bungalow.
The councillors will now demand that BMC should not just ask him the names of the officers who had asked for the bribe but also file an FIR against him for all his illegal activities. The councilors have given the BMC a deadline of two days and after that if the civic body fails to file an FIR against him, then theproposal will be brought in the House.
Leader of the House, Trushna Vishwasrao, has said the BMC should file another complaint against the comedian for defaming the BMC, if he fails to reveal the names of the officers who asked forbribe from him.
She has made this demand to the BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta.
The councillors have warned that all the political parties would unite against the comedian and protest in Azad Maidan if the civic body does not take any further action against the comedian in both, the Oshiwara and Andheri case.
