Bowing To Pressure Karnataka CM Announces CBI Probe Into Death Of IAS Officer DK Ravi

The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah announced CBI inquiry into the death of IAS officer D K Ravi in the legislative Assembly Monday .

He said, bowing to the sentiments of people and parents of D K Ravi, the Government has decided to hand over the mysterious death issue to the CBI.

He accused the Opposition of giving the issue a political colour and charged that parents of D K Ravi were brought to the Secretariat building for staging dharna.

The leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shetter objected to the accusation and said the parents were not brought to the Secretariat building by them and their agitation was beyond party politics and that they only responded to public opinion against the rigid stance held by the Government.

The Opposition’s demand for removing the Chief Minister’s accusation from the proceedings of the House, was not allowed by the Speaker. At this stage, both BJP and JD(S) staged a walk out against the accusations made by the Chief Minister.

As planned earlier, the interim report of CID on the death of D K Ravi was not tabled in the House due to the stay of Karnataka High Court.
