BSF Jawan Arrested For Helping Smugglers

Punjab police has arrested a BSF jawan deployed along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan, from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan for his alleged role in cross border smuggling of drugs, arms and ammunition.
Addressing a press conference here Saturday , Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Central Investigating Agency of police arrested BSF constable Anil Kumar, posted in 52nd battalion, from Sri Ganganagar yesterday.
He said the BSF jawan helped notorious smuggler Gurjant Singh alias Bholu and his accomplices Sandeep Singh and Jatinder Singh in smuggling of drugs and arms and ammunition from Pakistan through Rajasthan border.
Gurjant and his accomplices were arrested by the police from Kharar on January 4 and during their police remand they confessed that Anil assisted them in smuggling contraband, arms and ammunition from Pakistan.
During his questioning, the BSF jawan also confessed to his crime and admitted that he was receiving cash from the smugglers for each consignment, the SSP added.
Anil was in regular contact with Pak-based drug smuggler Imtiaz, who gave him a Pakistani sim card, Bhullar said.
The SSP said the BSF jawan was also in contact with Gurjant and his accomplices through Whatsapp and Facebook.
