Cabinet Clears MoU’s To be Signed During Visit To China, Mongolia , South Korea

Before leaving for his three-nation tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a Cabinet meeting in New Delhi Wednesday evening . Among other decisions, the Cabinet cleared a number of MoUs which are expected to be signed during Modi’s visit to China, Mongolia and South Korea.
The Union Cabinet cleared signing of an MoU between India and China on co-operation in the field of mining and mineral sector. The MOU will provide an institutional mechanism and help in exchange of information on resources, laws and policy.
The two countries will also extend tenure of the MoU for Cooperation in Traditional Medicine. The MoU had expired in January, 2013.
The two countries will also enter into an agreement for strengthening co-operation in the field of tourism.
Cabinet also approved an MoU between India and Mongolia for cooperation in the field of Traditional Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy. It also cleared signing of an MoU for cooperation in Border Guarding, Policing and Surveillance between both the countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of Border Management. It will also increase effectiveness in border security co-operation and best practices sharing.
It also cleared signing of an agreement between the countries on the transfer of sentenced persons. This will enable sentenced persons to be near their families and help in the process of their social rehabilitation.
The Union Cabinet also gave its approval for entering into an Audio-Visual Co-Production Agreement between India and the South Korea. Co-operation between the film industries of the two countries will not only promote export of Indian films but also act as a catalyst towards creating awareness about India and its culture.
The Cabinet also approved signing of an MoU between both the countries on cooperation in the field of electric power development and new energy industries. The MoU will provide an enabling framework for establishing contact between governmental entities and public authorities of both countries in the field of electric power development and new energy industries.
Signing of a MoU for co-operation with South Korea in the fields of maritime transport and logistics was also cleared.
