Censorship Controversy To Be Resolved Soon : I&B Minister Rathore

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said, the process of film certification is such that no individual can hijack the system of censorship.

Speaking to press Monday evening after meeting Bollywood delegation in Mumbai, Rathore assured the representatives of the film fraternity that the issue of censorship will be resolved soon.

He said that his government is committed towards solving their problems and making the industry economically stronger.

A delegation of film producers, directors and actors led by Mukesh Bhatt, who is the President of Film and Television Producers Guild of India met Rathore to express their reservations about censor board’s recent guidelines on ‘cuss words’.

Several Bollywood personalities including Aamir Khan, Shabana Azmi, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar were part of this delegation.

The meeting came in the backdrop of the controversy over banning a list of 28 objectionable words circulated by Central Board of Film Certification, CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani which after protests from several quarters was put on hold.

Aamir Khan said they are happy with Minister’s response and feel the outcome of the meeting will surely be positive.
