Centre aims to provide LPG connection to 5 crore BPL beneficiries in 1 year : Pradhan

The Union Government aimed of reachingfive crore beneficiaries belonging to below poverty line in the nextone year through distribution of free liquefied gas connections,Union Minister for Union Petroleum and Natural Gas DharmendraPradhan said Saturday.

Addressing a gathering after symbolically providing free gasconnection to the poor beneficiaries as part of Ujwal project, adream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that thecentre has launched several such popular projects to aim atelevating the poor class to a standard of living.

He said that it is the main aim of the government to uplift thenation from poverty and provide a better quality life to the people.

“Since, Mr Modi took over charge as Prime Minister,revolutionary changes have been made on economic front anderadication of poverty. Thus crores of people are benefitted throughsuch sea changes policies,” he claimed.

He said that Ujwal project has been aimed at relieving the womenat home from health hazardous smoke from the traditional ovens. ThePrime Minister has deep concern for the poor women whom he wants tobe healthier and thus build healthy India.

State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa, who was present, called uponthe people to make the best use of the scheme and free themselvesfrom the shackles of poverty and improve their health.

Member of Parliament Pralhad Joshi, leader of Opposition inKarnataka Assembly Jagadish Shettar, Union Ministers RameshJigajinagi, H N Ananth Kumar, Karnataka Ministers U T Khader, VinayKulkarni and several legislators were present on this occasion.

A total of 20,000 beneficiaries were benefitted in today’slaunching programme from North Karnataka.

Earlier Mr Pradhan along with other leaders visited abeneficiary’s house and symbolically lighted the gas stove throughfreely granted gas kit.
