Change of Guard in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust amid donation embezzlement case
Ayodhya, July 06
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust today accepted the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and Trust member Dr Anil Mishra.
Both had stepped down after their names surfaced in the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement case.
Krishna Mohan has been appointed as the Interim General Secretary until a new General Secretary is appointed. His complaint formed the basis of the FIR registered in the alleged donation irregularities case, following which eight people were arrested.
The Trust has also decided to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). A three-member committee has been constituted to recommend suitable names and submit its suggestions for the appointment.
During the meeting, the name of Gopal Nagar Kote was also removed from the list of the Trust’s special invitees.
After the meeting, Trust Treasurer Govind Dev Giri and newly appointed Interim General Secretary Krishna Mohan addressed a press conference.
Speaking to the media, Govind Dev Giri said that the possibility of a conspiracy behind the entire episode could not be ruled out.
The Trust also displayed donated ornaments and other valuable items, asserting that all donated articles are safe and properly accounted for. It said that anyone can obtain details of the donated items from the Trust.
Krishna Mohan acknowledged that the controversy had damaged the image of the Trust.
However, in its official press release, the Trust stated that crores of Ram devotees continue to have unwavering faith in the Ram Temple and that there has been no decline in the number of pilgrims visiting the temple since the alleged donation embezzlement case came to light.
