Chief Justice Surya Kant Declines INDIA bloc leaders request for meeting, asks them to file petition in court

New Delhi,October 11
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has declined a request from leaders of the INDIA bloc seeking a meeting ahead of their planned march to the Supreme Court over allegations of electoral irregularities, which opposition parties have described as “vote chori” .

He asked that they should approach the court by filing a petition as the matter is already sub judice.

The opposition alliance had sought an audience with the Chief Justice before taking their concerns to the apex court. The issue centres on allegations relating to the electoral process and demands for accountability from the Election Commission.

Despite the rejection of the meeting request, INDIA bloc leaders are expected to proceed with their proposed march to the Supreme Court. The development has added a new dimension to the ongoing political confrontation between opposition parties and the Centre over electoral transparency and voter-related concerns.
