Congress responsible for farmers problem – Naidu

Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu said here today that farmers issue are the creation of Congress who has ruled the country for nearly sixty years.
The Union Minister, who was here to attend the Sabka Sath Sabka Vikash sammelani here, said the problems being faced by the farmers now has not been created overnight. Rather it is the decade long neglect of the farmers issues by the previous successive Congress governments which has led to the present situation.
He asked as to why during its long rule Congress had not initiated pro farmer policies like Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sichai Yojana and Mudra Yojana.
Replying to a question on the farmers agitation in Madhya Pradesh who have been demanding waiving of the crop loan and upward revision of their produce, the Union Minister said farm loan waiver is a state subject and the centre has nothing to do with it.
Naidu said the economy of the country was in a bad shape when the NDA came to power in 2014.
He said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the economy of the country was growing fast and now became a leading emerging economy in the world.
Naidu said during UPA period from 2005-06 to 2013-14 country’s borrowing was rising and non performing assets were touching sky high. Bad loans increased by 132 per cent during the two terms of the UPA regime.
He said the NDA government has not wavied the loans of any industrialist. Even the Industrialist Vijaya Mallya who defaulted on loan payment had taken advance loan during UPA period.
Describing the Union government’s intiatives, Mr Naidu said while the central government led by Mr Narendra Modi has been focusing on three Ds Decisiveness, Dynamism and development the Congress and the Opposition are focusing onDisrupt, Disinformation and defame.
Speaking on black money, the Union Minister said the demonetisation drive has generated about Rs 1,25,000 crore black money so far.
The Narendra Modi government, he said, has only one agenda that is the development of the people and the nation but the Naxalites are working against development, he regretted.
As the NDA government is strongly in favour of cooperative federalism, the centre and the state should work together to raise the socio-economic standard of vulnerable section of the society, Naidu said.
He said the central government believes in team India spirit and wants every state to grow in scale.
