Counting of votes for Presidential elections to be taken up on Thursday at Parliament House complex
New Delhi, July 19
The counting of votes for Presidential elections will be taken up on Thursday. It will start at 11 AM in Parliament House complex in the national capital. Polling to elect a new President of India was held at Parliament House in Delhi, State assemblies and other designated places across the country yesterday.
Over 99 per cent elector turnout was recorded in the polling. After the end of the polling process, the Election Commission said that out of a total of 4,796 electors in the list of Electoral College, over 99 per cent cast their votes.
Addressing media in Parliament House complex, Rajya Sabha Secretary General P C Mody said that the ballot boxes from all over the country will be brought to Parliament House complex where counting will be held on Thursday.
The Rajya Sabha Secretary General said all necessary security arrangements for the safe transit of the ballot boxes from the Airport to Parliament House have been made.
The Parliament Security Service is coordinating actively with the Delhi Police, Airport Authorities and CRPF among others to ensure smooth and secure transport of the ballot boxes.
