Court rejects AAP leaders’ plea in Jaitley’s DDCA case

A sessions court in New Delhi has rejected the plea of AAP leaders Ashutosh and Sanjay Singh in a defamation complaint filed by Union Minister Arun Jaitley in the DDCA controversy.

The plea was filed by these leaders against the magisterial court’s order to put them on trial along with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the defamation case.

Dismissing the revision petition, Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Pandit said, there was sufficient prima facie evidence, both oral and documentary, against the two leaders and it appears that the statements given by them are directly against Jaitley and his family members.

Jaitley had filed the complaint alleging that the accused had defamed him in a controversy regarding Delhi and District Cricket Association, DDCA which he headed for over a decade.

He has also filed a civil defamation suit before the Delhi High Court in the matter seeking 10 crore rupees as damages.
