Dawood Ibrahim Is In Pakistan : MoS Home Affairs HP Chaudhury

06 May, New Delhi

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary today clarified that India has information that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim is in Pakistan and there is no confusion in it.

Replying to a media query in New Delhi, he, however, said the government do not have his address. Chaudhary’s clarification came a day after his written reply in the Lok Sabha wherein, the minister had said that Dawood Ibrahim, an accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blast case, has not been located so far. He also said that once the fugitive is traced, extradition process will be initiated.

His statement contradicted his senior Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks in December last year in which he had said that India have repeatedly asked Pakistan to hand over Dawood Ibrahim.

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju had also said yesterday that Government’s stand is consistent on Dawood Ibrahim and he is in Pakistan. Chaudhury’s statement had also given a chance to opposition to attack the government.
