DDCA Issue : PM Bats For Jaitley, Kejri Seeks PMs Resignation

Slanging match between ruling BJP and Opposition over the Delhi and District Cricket Association alleged irregularities during Finance Minister Arun Jaitleys tenure as its president, took a murkier turn as Prime Minister Narendra Modi mounted a strong defence of Jaitley and exuded confidence that he would emerge unscathed as senior leader LK Advani had come out from the Hawala scam charges.

In a swift turn of events, opposition Congress lapped up Modis statement and construed it as a hint by the PM himself for Jaitleys resignation as, Advani had quit Lok Sabha after charges in the Hawala scam.

Seething with anger, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a day after defamation charges leveled against him and five others of the Aam Aadmi Party by Jaitley, nursing wounds of CBI raids on his office and grilling of his senior bureaucrat Rajendra Kumar by CBI sleuths,sought Modis resignation for shielding the FM.

He fired a barrage of charges against Modis style of working and lamented that the central government was tinkering with his duly elected government and alleged that efforts were on to silence opposition on the Gujarat Model of governance. He was speaking at a special session of the Delhi Assembly amid repeated backing from his MLAS.

On the event packed day, Modi addressed the Parliamentary party on the penultimate day of the winter session and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiha Naidu gave details of PMs address to Media and soon after the controversy erupted.

Jaitley who was in the Parliament,appeared relaxed. The Delhi High Court today issued a notice to Kejriwal and five others of his party in connection with a civil defamation suit filed by Arun Jaitley.
