Death Toll In UP Train Accident Reaches 36

The death toll in Uttar Pradesh train accident has reached 36 whereas over 150 injured persons are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
Two boggies and the engine of the Dehradun-Varanasi Janata Express derailed at the Bachhrawan Railway Station, near Lucknow, around 9 AM Friday.
Gas cutters were used to reach into the mangled wreckage to find the trapped people. The Railways has constituted an inquiry and asked the Commissioner Railway Safety, Northern Circle, to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the incident and has wished the injured speedy recovery.
The railways has announced an ex-gratia of 2 lakh rupees each to the kin of the deceased and 50,000 rupees to the severely injured and 20,000 rupees for those with minor injuries.
