Debendranth Sarangi, the first Asian and Indian elected to WSF Ethics Commission

ASF Vice-President and SRFI President Debendranath Sarangi has been elected as a Member of the World Squash Federation’s (WSF)Ethics Commission at its EGM held in Manchester. In all there were eight candidates from whom four had to be elected as Members.

Representatives of 28 countries took part in the meeting.

Usually dominated by officials of European nations, Sarangi was the first Asian and first Indian to get elected to this Commission, which is to be chaired by David Howman of New Zealand.

The other three members elected were Alison Burchell (South Africa), Robert Dolman (Wales) and Jim Hay (Scotland). The last Indian to serve the World body was N Ramachandran, who was the President of the WSF for two terms till 2016.
