Delhi AAP Govt. All Set To Roll Out Odd-Even Plan For Cars From New Year Day

Delhi Government is all set to roll out tomorrow odd-even scheme for cars to curb vehicular pollution in the city. Initially the scheme will be on trial basis for 15 days. Schools will remain closed during the period. Under the scheme, odd number registration cars will ply on odd dates and even number on even dates.

The Scheme will be in operation from 8 in the morning to 8 in the evening. However, the scheme will not apply on Sundays. The VIPs, women drivers, CNG-certified vehicles, two-wheelers and those carrying the differently-abled are among the 25 categories which are exempted from the scheme. However, the exemption will not apply to Delhi Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues as the have decided to abide by the rule. Those found violating the scheme will be penalised with a fine of 2,000 rupees.

Helpline numbers 011-42400400 and 011-41400400 will be available for the public for their guidance about the scheme. Delhi government has made arrangements of 3000 additional buses to ferry passengers.

One thousand DTC which were usually deployed in schools will ply on the roads.Special buses will also be deployed to ferry people between Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida.Delhi Metro Rail Corportation will undertake over 300 extra trips on its different lines.

About 7500 civil defence volunteers will be at various traffic intersections carrying placards explaining the rules to motorists. However, they cannot stop cars, but have been asked to hand out flowers to the violators.

Several teams of Traffic Police,DTC, DMRC and Transport Department will be the part of transport monitoring mechanism to see the implementation of the Odd and Even car number scheme.
