Did not advocate eating beef: Udit Raj on Olympic medalist Bolt’s remark
29 August, New Delhi
A day after courting controversy by tweeting that Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt won nine Olympics gold medals because of eating beef, BJP MP Udit Raj today clarified that his tweets were not even remotely connected to advocating beef eating but were just a reproduction of statement of Bolt’s trainer.
”My tweet is not even remotely connected to advocate beef eating rather it is reproduction of statement of Bolt’s trainer ,” the BJP MP tweeted. ”As Usain bolt & trainer found ways and means to win medals similarly our players and trainers should do as per their circumstances.
”I intended to convey-players & society to look at ways to win in games rather blaming circumstances & Govt & eating is their choice,” the BJP MP said.
He said, ”I cited circumstances of Jamaica that despite poor infrastructure & poverty Bolt won 9 gold so our players should find ways like that to win.”
The BJP lawmaker had caused a controversy yesterday with a tweet that Bolt, who scored nine golds at Rio, was advised by his trainer to eat beef twice a day.
”Usain bolt of Jamaica was poor and trainer advised him to eat beef both the times and he scored 9 gold medals in Olympic,” he tweeted yesterday.
