EC Slaps Notice On AAP , 5 Other Political Parties For Not Filing Election Expenditure Statement

The Election Commission issued show cause notices to six political parties for not filing their expenditure statements for the last Lok Sabha polls. These parties are Aam Aadmi Party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Haryana Janhit Congress, National People Party of Manipur, Peoples Party of Arunachal and Kerala Congress (M).

The Commission yesterday asked them to file their expenditure statement within 20 days. Issuing a stern warning to these parties, the Commission said, if they failed to comply with its order, it will suspend or withdraw their recognition.

According to rules, all political parties who have contested the General Elections are stipulated to file their expenditure statements within a period of 90 days to the Election Commission.

The EC had earlier issued reminders to these parties on October 22 and November 28 last year and since it did not receive the said expenses statements from these parties.
