Election Schedule For 9 ULBs Announced In Odisha, Polling On April 7

Odisha State Election Commission Tuesday notified the schedule for holding election to nine Urban Local Bodies including four newly formed Notified Area Councils- Dharmagada, Tushura, Dasapalla and Ranapur .

The five other ULBs going to polls are- Paradeep Municipality, Sunabeda Mnicipality,Belpahar Municipality and Redhakhol and Balimela NACs. The election would be held for the first time in the newly formed four NACs.l.

The Polling to the 144 Wards in nine Urban Local Bodies would be held between 8 AM and 5 PM on April 7 and the counting of votes would be taken up 8 AM onwards on April 8 and poll results would be announced same day. As many as 1. 60 lakh voters would exercise their franchise in the nine ULBs.

The elections to the posts of Chairmen would be held on April 17 in eight Bodies while the election to the post of Chairman in the Redhakhol NAC .

Announcing the poll schedule , the State Election Commission , RN Senapati said the Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect in the limits of the concerned ULBs with the issuance of the notification and would remain in force till completion of the election process.
He said that for formal process of election would start with the issue of a notice by the concerned Election Officers on March 10 while candidates can file their nominations between March 16 and March 23.
