Eminent poet, writer Firaq passes away in Srinagar

Eminent poet, writer and teacher Ghulam Nabi Firaq passed away after a prolonged illness here today. He was 94.

Professor of English, Prof Firaq, a celebrated poet and writer, has won many awards, including Sahitya academy award. He co-founder of a group of educational institutions established in 1975.

Author of many books, Prof Firaq had a huge contribution in Kashmir’s modern poetry. Adbi Markaz Kamraz president Dr Shujaat Bukhari has mourned the death of Prof Firaq and extended solidarity with the bereaved family.

All sections of society, including social, religious and cultural organisations have condoled the sad demise of Prof Firaq.
