Expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh granted bail in Mayawati insult case

In Uttar Pradesh, Dayashankar Singh, the expelled BJP leader in Mayawati insult case, was granted bail by a court in Maunath Bhanjan Saturday. The bail was approved by judge Dr Ajay Kumar on two bonds of 50,000 rupees each and two sureties.

Dayashankar Singh was arrested in Buxar on 29th July by a joint team of the UP Special Task Force and the Bihar Police after he made derogatory remarks against BSP chief Mayawati creating a political furore.

Later, Singh was produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Mau, which sent him to 14-day judicial custody.

Dayashankar Singh was booked under various sections of IPC and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at Hazratganj police station on July 20 on the basis of a complaint filed by a BSP functionary.

The FIR has since been transferred to Mau Kotwali police station as Singh had made the remark there. He had moved the Allahabad High Court seeking that the FIR be quashed while High court has fixed August 8 as next date of hearing.

On the other hand Swati Singh, the wife of Dayashankar Singh, is demanding action against BSP leaders for passing insulting remarks for her minor daughter and herself during the protest rally of BSP.
