First Swine Flu death in Odisha, three tested positive

In Odisha one person succumbed to Swine Flu Sunday at State Government run SCB Medical College and Hospital , Cuttack.
This was the first death of the year due to Swine Flu (H1N1) in Odisha , confirmed , the Emergency Officer, Dr.Bhubana Nanda Maharana.
The deceased identified as Aditya Narayan Jena Mukundaprasad of Khorda about 23 Km from the state capital , Bhubaneswar was first treated at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was shifted to SCB Medical College on Saturday as his condition deteriorated, said State Health Secretary , Arati Ahuja.
The deceased was confirmed swine flu positive following his swab tests at the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) here she said adding so far at least four cases of Swain Flu were reported in the state , she said.
Even as one person died and three persons tested positive for H1N1 virus in the state , Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak has appealed the people not to panic .
Nayak said all the district hospitals and medical colleges in the state including the Hospitals in private sector have been alerted and the government is taking every possible step to prevent the spread of the disease.
“All the three government-run medical colleges and district headquarters hospitals in the state l have separate isolation wards for treating swine flu patients. Government has already issued protocol to all the Private Hospitals so as to tackle the Swine Flu cases”, the Health Minister said adding that adequate medicines have been stocked and teams of doctors have been formed to attend to swine flu patients.
