Godhra Riot Case: All Six Accused Acquitted

A Special court in Gujarat Friday has acquitted six persons in a post Godhra riot case in which 3 British national were killed at Prantij in Sabarkantha district. Himatnagar special court judge IC Shah has announced his judgement Friday . .

Supreme Court-appointed special investigation team had charged 6 persons with the killing of four persons including 3 Indian-origin British nationals.

Incident occurred on 28th February 2002, a day after Godhra train carnage. According to prosecution, Imran Dawood and his UK-based uncles Saeed Dawood, Shakeel Dawood and Mohammad Aswat were attacked by a mob at Prantij in Sabarkantha district.

Accused who have been acquitted by the Special court are Mithanbhai Patel, Chandu alias Prahlad Patel, Ramesh Patel, Manoj Patel, Rajesh Patel and Kalabhai Patel, all residents of Prantij.
