Govt. Of India Chalks Out Action Plan To Protect Interest Of Transgender

The Government of India n will chalk out an action plan to protect the interests of transgender, said Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thwarchand Gehlot.
Replying to discussion in the Rajya Sabha on a private members’ bill on transgender,Gehlot said different ministries and state governments have taken steps for welfare of transgender.
Rural Development Ministry has decided to give priority to them in allotting Indira Awas while Human Resources Ministry has approved scholarships for transgender, he said adding Centre has also requested the Supreme Court to give guidance about definition and caste of transgender.
Gehlot said that Tamil Nadu and some other states have done good work for the welfare of transgender.
