Govt. Of India Keen To Sign Land Boundary Agreement With Bangladesh : Rajnath Singh

The Government of India is keen to sign the Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh to solve the problems of the people residing at enclaves in both sides of the border.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh Tuesday said that the Centre will soon take steps to redress the problems of people residing at the enclaves along Indo-Bangladesh border with a human approach and hoped that the Parliament will soon pass the land boundary bill. He was speaking at Tinbigha Corridor in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal.

The Home Minister said that construction of Border Out-posts of Border Security Force is being hampered in the State for non availability of land. Singh said that he will talk to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the issue.

Earlier today Singh visited Bala Pukuri enclave and Tinbigha corridor to have a first hand experience on the prevailing situation at enclaves along International border.

He also interacted with the officials of Border Security Force and Border Guards Bangladesh, besides taking stock of the situation on the on going work under Border Area Development projects.

The visit of Home Minister in the enclaves assumes significance before signing of Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh. Mamata Banerjee has already given her nod for signing of the Agreement in principle but she asked Centre to give special economic package to the people residing at the enclaves.
