Guwahati Center Of Operation Smile Creates World Record In Conducting Cleft Surgeries

Guwahati centre of the Operation Smile India has achieved success in conducting over 13 thousand safe cleft surgeries.

Communication Officer of the Centre Dipul Malakar said that, with this, Guwahati centre has became the first in the world to achieve such success .

In this run up, Operation Smile India has been supported by the Assam Government, National Health Mission and Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, among others .

The Centre has got 100 percent success in conducting surgeries. World Health Organization’s report said that, 1 in 700 live births with cleft lip and palette deformity problem have been detected across the globe. Assam has also recorded more than 15 thousand patients.

Assam government has providing free accommodations and also bear the travel expenses to those patients and caretakers, who required a cleft lip or palette deformity surgery.

The centre has recently started cleft lip and palette deformities surgery in Tripura also.
