ICC World Cup : Scotland 1/ 18 in 5 overs as Srilanka Ammases 363 Runs

Kumara Sangakkara today became the first ever batsman to score fourth successive World Cup centuries as Sri Lanka amassed 363 for 9 in the stipulated 50 overs in their innings against Scotland in a Pool-A match at Hobart.

This is also the first time ever a batsman has recorded four tons in the same edition of the World Cup. Sangakkara’s earlier three centuries were – 104 against Australia in Sydney, 117* against England at Wellington and 105* against Bangladesh at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Sri Lanka had won the toss and opted to bat first. After an early wicket, the Sri Lankan innings was resurrected by a 195-run second wicket stand between Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan.

Dilshan was out for 104, while Sangakkara made 124. Mahela Jayawardene went back early for just 2.
