India Deserves Permanent Seat In UNSC : PM Modi
12 April , Paris
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that India should be given a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council as the country fully deserves it given its history of efforts in spreading peace and harmony in the world.
Addressing the Indian diaspora at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris last evening, Mr Modi said India commands moral authority for this honour and hoped that this issue will be taken up by the world community during the 70th anniversary of the United Nations.
Referring to his visit to the Indian war memorial at Neuve Chapelle in northern France earlier in the day, he said India has never attacked any country and has made immense contribution to international peace keeping efforts.
He also called upon the world to observe next year as a war-free year. He said, wars have heart rendering consequences for humanity.
In his hour long address, Prime Minister said that the country has embarked upon a path of faster development and will attract the best in the world on competitive terms for ensuring higher inclusive growth and increased job opportunities. He assured the Indian community that India will develop as a powerful front ranking nation.
The Prime Minister also called upon the members of the Indian Diaspora to retain their traditions and values and assured them of full support of the government in their endeavour to maintain links with India.
Just like at New York’s Madison Square Garden in September last year, the Prime Minister received a rousing welcome in Paris from an over-packed audience of more than 3,000 Indians who constantly chanted his name.
T
the members of Indian community not only from France but from several European nations came to attend the reception.
