India Govt. Has No Proposal To Privatise Air Ports : Minister Mahesh Sharma

The Union Government Tuesday clarified that there was no proposal to privatize airports in the country.

In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Dr Mahesh Sharma said, the government has initiated the process for undertaking operation, management and development of Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Jaipur airports through Public Private Partnership.

He said Airports Authority of India Employees Union has given a notice for strike. The Minister said Airport Authority of India has been asked to evolve a mechanism for protection of the interests of the employees deployed at these airports.
