India Govt. will not allow any religious group to incite hatred : Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said his government will not allow any religious group to incite hatred and will strongly act against any religious violence.

Expressing concern over the increasing division and hostility on religious lines, Modi said his government will ensure that there is complete freedom of faith. He was speaking at the celebration of Elevation to Sainthood of Kuriakose Elias Chavara and Mother Euphrasia in Delhi.

Seeking harmony, the Prime Minister appealed to all religious groups to act with restraint, mutual respect and tolerance in the true spirit of India, which is manifest in the Constitution and in line with the Hague Declaration. His government will give equal respect to all religions as principle of equal respect and treatment has been a part of India’s ethos, Prime Minister said..

Addressing the gathering, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that recent incidents, where religious places were vandalised should be regarded as unacceptable aberrations in a society as liberal as India. He said that the guilty in one case has already been identified and brought to book.
