India-Lanka second T20I match shifted to Ranchi

29 January, New Delhi

The second T20 international between India and Sri Lanka, which was scheduled to be hosted in Delhi on February 12 has been shifted to Ranchi.

The development comes after the Delhi High Court today refused to direct the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to provide the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) with Provisional Occupancy Certificate (POC) for hosting the match.

”The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced that the venue of the second Twenty20 International match of the three-match home series against Sri Lanka has been shifted from Delhi to Ranchi,” BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said in a statement.

As part of the preparations for the upcoming ICC World T20 in March-April this year, the first game of the three-match series will be held in Pune on February 9 while the third game will take place on February 14 at Visakhapatnam. The second match, which was to be held at the Feroz Shah Kotla here will now be played in Ranchi.

The men-in-blue are currently in Australia where they lost the ODI series 1-4 and are leading the three-match T20 international series 1-0.
