India Post to recruit 55,000 Gramin Dak Sevaks through online: Sudhakar

Secretary Department of Posts B V Sudhakar today said that the India Post will fill up the vacancies of 55,000 Gramin Dak Sevaks through online process for bringing in transparency.
Informing this at a press conference here, Sudhakar said the software solution has been developed and it is under testing. The candidates can apply online through the web-site. This is the major step the Postal Department has taken on recruitment segment. The recruitment process will be completed by November this year, he added.
Sudhakar said the India Posts has also decided to setup rooftop ‘Solar Energy’ on Departmental buildings. On experimental basis, India Posts have decided to establish rooftop Solar Energy with a capacity of 160 KV at Headquarters, New Delhi. ” If it is succeeded, it will be expanded to 4000 Departmental buildings across the country”, he added.
He said India Posts has achieved Revenue targets consistently. India Post had achieved Rs 11,600 crore as against the target of Rs 11,300 crore during 2014-2015. In 2015-2016, India post had achieved a revenue target of Rs 12,900 crore as against the target of Rs 12,600 crore.This year, the India Posts have targeted Rs 13,800 crore and expressed confidence to reach it, Sudhakar Said.
On e-commerce, he said India Posts got Revenue of Rs 300 crore last year and this year we are looking for Rs 400 crore.
He said India post has about Rs 6000 crore Revenue deficit. To overcome it, we are emphasizing e-commerce business using with new technology. Innovative products would also brought into to cover up the Revenue deficit, he said.
