India to supply interior panels for P-8 aircraft to US

Composite interior panels for long-range maritime aircraft manufactured by America’s Boeing company will be sourced from India.

India’s Tata Advanced Materials Limited (TAML), a subsidiary of Tata Industries Limited, has been awarded a contract by the US aviation major.

The P-8i aircraft were also in the service of Indian Navy.
Designed for long-range anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, as well as armed intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, P-8 aircraft is a derivative of Boeing’s Next-Generation 737-800, which is capable of broad-area maritime operations.

“This contract is another example of Indian companies becoming part of the global supply chain and manufacturing aerospace parts for the world’s most advanced products,” TAML Chief Executive Officer Sudhi Ranjan Mukherjee said in a statement here.

TAML is currently negotiating to manufacture the P-8 tail cone and auxiliary power unit door fairing out of India. Additionally, TAML works for Dynamatic Technologies Limited in support of the CH-47F Chinook, a medium-to-heavy lift helicopter and for P-8 cabinets.

Boeing and various Tata companies have established partnerships in India to manufacture aerostructures for Boeing’s commercial and military aircraft.

Recently, Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems Limited had established a joint venture in India to produce fuselages for AH-64 Apache attack helicopters.
