India’s Communication satellite GSAT-18 successfully launched; Prez , PM Congratulates ISRO

India’s latest communication satellite GSAT-18 was successfully launched early this morning on board ‘Ariane-5 VA231’ rocket from Kouru in French Guiana. ISRO said its Master Control Facility at Hassan in Karnataka took control of the satellite immediately after its injection into an elliptical geo-transfer orbit.
The satellite aims at providing telecommunications services for the country by strengthening ISRO’s current fleet of 14 operational telecommunication satellites.
President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have congratulated ISRO scientists for the successful launch of communication satellite GSAT-18. The Prime Minister, in his tweet, described it as another milestone in India’s space programme.
