ISRO Chairman thanks scientists, customers for PSLV-C28 success

23 June, Sriharikotta

ISRO Chairman A S Kiran Kumar today congratulated the space scientists for the successful commercial launch of PSLV-C28 in a clockwise precision ejected Cartosat-2 and 30 other nano satellites into sun synchronous orbit and said the space agency was ever ready to serve the customers.

Commenting on the launch, he said all the spacecraft have been placed in the intended orbits. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, elated over the continuous successful launch, tweeted ”congratulations to ISRO on its 40th successful Polar satellite launch carrying 31 satellites from 15 countries. You make us proud”.

Meanwhile, Mr Kumar said the indigenously-launched communication payload GSAT-19 launched 18 days ago by the first developmental flight of the heavy lift GSLV-MkIII had been operationalised after it reached its designated location. All the payloads have been switched on and have started performing. This marks ISRO adding a new capability — the multi-beam hythroughput satellite, the first satellite in this class, he said.

The ISRO chief said on June 28, ISRO would be sending to the space GSAT 17 using Ariene rocket from Korou in French Guyana. This will add significant number of transponders to the country’s capacity. ”Our effort of continuing to provide increased earth observation, navigation as well as communication satellites will continue. We will have many more activities to be performed in the coming days,” he added.
