IT Serves notice to 50 entities including AAP on funding

The Income Tax Department has served notice to 50 entities including Aam Aadmi Party and Congress over funding issue.
IT has sought AAP an explanation for donations of over Rs 2 crore to the party. The notice was issued after the AAP Volunteer Action Manch, AVAM had accused AAP of receiving Rs 2 crore last year from four dubious companies through cheques. The department has asked the party to reply to the notice by Monday next.
Welcoming the notice, AAP spokesperson Atishi Marlena said, the party will cooperate in the investigation.

She also demanded that funding of every party should be probed by the SIT.

The department has also issued a notice to Congress party on the alleged funding of Rs 10 lakh and asked them to explain their sources of political funding.

AICC sources said that there was no irregularity in the spending of the funding . The funds were used for the celebration of 125 birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The party would submit the document within the stipulated time frame.

Reacting to the notice, Congress leader PC Chacko said that politics and law should not be mixed. He also said that IT department has every right to send notice.
