Lalu Asks PM To Take Oath Afresh
22 November, Patna
Stung by controversy over wrong pronunciation of a Hindi word ‘apechhit’ (expected) as ‘upechhit’ (neglected) by his son Tej Pratap Yadav during his oath taking as minister, RJD supremo LaluPrasad today asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take oath again as he had also mispronounced ‘achhun’ (intact) as ‘achhan’ while taking oath as PM 18 months back.
Prasad tweeted that Modi did not believe in keeping intact the sovereignty and integrity of the country as he had always encouraged disruptive forces.
“While taking oath to keep intact the ‘Prabhuta’ (integrity). Modi had pronounced ‘achhun’ as ‘achhan’ and he should take the oath afresh”, the RJD supremo said, adding that there was no point in the Prime Minister taking oath if he had wrongly pronounced an important word of the text of the oath.
Tej Pratap Yadav, while taking oath as minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet on November 20, hadmispronounced ‘apechhit’ as ‘Upechhit’, forcing Governor Ramnath Kobind to intervene and ask him to read the oath again. The incident had triggered controversy attracting criticism from several corners, including some leaders from Opposition.
The Grand Alliance, comprising RJD, JD(U) and Congress has trounced the BJP led NDA in the just concluded assembly elections winning 178 seats. Both sons of Prasad–Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav had got berths in the cabinet with the former designated as deputy CM.
