Manifesto row : SGPC to file case against AAP leaders

07 July, Ludhiana

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar today announced that he will file a case against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Manifesto committee chief Kanwar Sandhu and Delhi Dialogue Chairman Ashish Khetan for hurting religious sentiments.

The SGPC chief said a case under Section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code will be filed within two days in Amritsar.

Announcing this at a press conference here, Mr Makkar said, “By putting a picture of a broom (election symbol of AAP) along the Golden Temple on its manifesto, the AAP has hurt sentiments of Sikhs. We outrightly reject the apology tendered by them as a crime of such nature is unpardonable”.

Punjab Police had already registered a FIR against Ashish Khetan for hurting religious sentiments.

The AAP leader had reportedly compared the youth manifesto of the party with the Guru Granth Sahib.

An FIR was registered under Section 295 A for hurting religious sentiments at the Civil Lines police station in Amritsar.
