Maruti hiked price of all models; Vitara Brezza price up by Rs 20,000

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the country’s largest car manufacturer, has today hiked the prices of its cars by up to Rs 20,000. Maruti Vitara Brezza gets price has been hiked by Rs 20,000 whereas Maruti Baleno premium hatchback prices are increased by Rs 10,000.
The price hike is as a result of higher forex rates as well as segment wise demand of cars. In a company press release, MSIL said, “This price revision is based on factors like, segment-wise demand, forex movements and strategic objectives of the company.”
The price hike ranges from Rs 1,500 to Rs 20,000 depending on models. Price hike on models that are not in demand ranges from INR 1,500 to INR 5000 only, said Maruti Suzuki. This is the second price hike by the company in 2016. Apart from this, the car maker had also increased its car prices post the Union Budget as a result of the imposition of infrastructural cess by the government.
Last time around, the car prices were hiked between Rs 1,400 to Rs 35,000 depending upon the model.The new price hike will be effective from Monday (August 1, 2016), the company revealed. Maruti Suzuki sells a range of cars in India ranging from the entry level Maruti Alto 800 which is priced at Rs 2.45 lakh to the Maruti S-Cross premium crossover that is priced at Rs 12.03 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the Baleno RS with the BoosterJet engine and the MAruti Ignis mini SUV in India with a few months from now.On a select range, the price hike will be between Rs 1,500 and Rs 5,000, Maruti Suzuki India said in a regulatory filing.
On reasons for the hike, Maruti Suzuki said, “This price revision is based on factors like, segment-wise demand, forex movements and strategic objectives of the company.”
The company sells a range of models starting from hatchback Alto 800 to premium crossover S-Cross, priced Rs.2.45 lakh to Rs.12.03 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Maruti’s latest offering Vitara Breeza was launched in March 2016 at Rs 6.99 lakh.
The SUV is competing with Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300, besides being pitched against Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta which are priced in the range of Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 13.77 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Vitara Breeza was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016.
