Massive Human chain formed to mark World Sexual Health Day

The Indian Sexology Association, which is a charter member of the World Association of Sexual Health, today celebrated the World Sexual Health day by forming a massive human chain to create awareness among the people onsexual health.
More than 5,000 people, including college students, participated in the human chain, organised by the KamarajMulti Speciality Hospitals in the city.
The Human Chain was inaugurated by CPI(M) Tamil Naduunity Secretary G Ramakrishnan. Participants of the human chain carried placards and banner condemning against the growing incidents of crimeagainst women.
Speaking on the occasion, Hospital Founders Dr T Kamarajand Dr K S Jeyarani Kamaraj, who were pioneers in introducing treatment for infertility couples, said a massive awarenesshas to be created among the people, to overcome the presentills facing the society. They said on behalf of the World Association of Sexual Health, every year September four was being celebrated as International Sexual Health Day.
Referring to the rise in incidents of crime against womenand the recent murders, Dr Jeyarani said introduction sex education alone would help in arresting this trend. ”If the sex education was introduced, the crimes against women, sexual abuse, sexual harassment and murders will comedown to a great extent”, she added.
Dr Kamaraj said more than 64 per cent below the adolescentage of 18, were subjected to one sort of harassment or otherof sexual abuse. ”So, the Kamaraj Multi Speciality Hospitals, with a viewto creating awareness among the people was celebrating the World Sexual Health day with the theme ‘Sexual Health,Eliminate the Myth’ and the human chain formation was heldwith the support of people from various walks of life and the general public”, he added
He said to mark the occasion, a three-day expo on sexologywas organised and a massive campaign to collect one million signatures was also launched.
The three-day expo, titled, male sexual problems and male infertility, which ended today highlighted many sex related topics like impotence, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, impotency due to alcohol addiction, male infertility and diabetes, infertility, and the treatment options available. Pointing out that 40 per cent of the marriages end up in failure due to sex related issues, they said complete cure was available if they approach the doctors and get proper treatment.
